Grandfather
Looking out of the speeding car, Lush greenery speeding by, The intoxicating smell of the wet ground, The air humming its tune on my glum face, There was a joy but overpowered with remorse The greenery reminding me of the past When he and I used to sit on the porch The stories, the memories, An erudite man yet so foolish The car now stopped. I stand on the porch, 25 years went by, Where the house stood, a post office hums indifferently, The old house now a falling ruin, I ran in my mid-thirties, After years, I stand still in his room short of breath, “Make your grandfather proud” he had said. As tears rolled down my cheeks, Sanity came back with the tug of my child’s hand. ©_the.big.blue_
The man less known
Leaving behind the town, Footsteps vanish into the night; They say he's a man less known, A man who steered clear of light. He walks alone with a stick, As if the stick knows all his ticks; The woods and him exchange secrets, And the hut lets him in without regrets. With days numbered and beard turned white, Eyes like they've seen too much of this shite, The wrinkles sustained and the knowing smile, Speaks what words never could, and the wobbly legs, Have made each broken road worthwhile. Leaving behind the bustle, I talk to leaves that rustle; Reeking of whiskey, I frown, As I hear, I am the man less known. ©_the.big.blue_
Struggle
An imbecile smile at the end of the day A tired laugh and an empty core This is all he hopes for His daily was never pronounced, not for him He could fetch a cup of milk, rice enough to fill stomachs to the point of hungry. That was it. He wondered when gleaming cars passed by Maybe he'd go near one - maybe his son will. Then fear sets in, fear of not providing, His son's impeccable smile makes him contemplate what ifs. His wife in a veil would come for a vain pleasure at the fall. Such is Life. Tired, asphyxiated, full of terror and diffidence. ©_the.big.blue_
A Serious Smile
I regain my senses shivering, Under the haze of smoke, I found myself quivering. Intoxicated with the whiskey and coke. Memories seep in like water, What wrong had I done? Nothing I did, did matter. Was it my soul you had to shun? Why? Why had it to be this way? People whom I called friends, In the time of need shoved me away, Turns out this was a game that ends. I ask myself why do I care? Can I not just give up? Flush out emotions I can't bear? Depleted gets the happy syrup. I think why so serious, Legs are weary of that extra mile. No matter how spurious, Let's put up that golden smile. ©_the.big.blue_
Sore
Embracing solitude, I choose to intrude my subliminal thoughts, in multitude. I drift again and try to be me, scars bleed, but I let it be, new shadows loom, seldom can I see, the cold comfort finds a way to flee. Turning to the other side, I hope to find respite. It's woven with uncertainty, Can I rewrite my destiny ? Picking apart the wounds, waiting for courage to be found, I pause, what am i even fighting for? Do I have to start all over again? Maybe, but I would, being just this sore. I will not lose myself for this little gain. ©_the.big.blue_
